The Auger should be supported by both chain hoists at the same time.

Hook one hoist to the Auger lifting lug located near the center of the Auger and the other hoist to the Auger lifting tool (#4) that mounts to the end of the Auger as shown to the left.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 2.jpg

Install the Auger into the front opening of the cabinet as shown.

Push the Auger into the cabinet until the chain hook hits the cabinet.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 3.jpg

Unhook the center chain hoist and finish pushing the auger in to the cabinet until it hits the square drive of the gearbox.

Remove the (#4) Auger lifting tool and install (#3) Auger wrench and then re-install the (#4) lifting
tool.

Lift the Auger slightly and push the Auger forward while rotating the Auger with the (#3) Auger wrench.

Once the Auger square drive lines up with the Gear box square drive push the Auger in until it stops.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 6.jpg

Remove the wrench and hang the lining on the Auger pin as shown.

Re-install the (#4) Auger lifting tool and slightly pick up the Auger until the lining slides in to the cabinet.

The four keys should line up with the key slots of the lining as shown

Check the Auger is fully engaged by confirming that the cutting edge of the Auger is 1 to 2 mm shorter than the outer edge of the lining as shown to the left.

If the cutting edge exceeds the outer edge of the lining stop assembly and contact Maintenance. Do not proceed with assembly until this has been corrected.

If assembled with out making the correction the pre-cutter will jam against the cutting edge of the Auger and cause damage and metal contamination.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 8.jpg

Using the chain hoist, lift the knife housing up until it is in line with the center of the Auger pin.

Install the fixed pre-cutter in to the back side of the knife housing as shown.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 9.jpg

Install the lining against the lining and close the two clamp halves.

Securely tighten the clamps together.

Apply USDA approved grease to the front face of the pre-cutter at this time.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 10.jpg

Install the knife on to the worm pin of the Auger.

The hub of the knife must be fully engaged into the center hole of the pre-cutter.

The Auger may need to be raised slightly to accomplish this engagement.

Make sure USDA approved grease is applied to the cutting edges of the knife.

Confirm the front of the knife is marked with the words "Front" and it is installed correctly.

Running the knife backwards will cause metal contamination.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 11.jpg

Apply USDA approved grease  to both sides of the holeplate.

Align the holeplate keyway with the key of the knife housing and install the holeplate securely against the face of the knife.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 12.jpg

Inspect the condition of both the pilot bearing nut and roller bearing.

Replace if either part is damaged or has excessive wear.

Apply USDA grease to both the pilot bearing nut and the roller bearing.

Insert the nut in to the roller bearing, always install the nut with the markings on the nut facing you.

Install both pieces on to the end of the worm pin as shown.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 13.jpg

When installed correctly the markings of the nut should be facing the holeplate.

The face of the roller bearing should be facing outward.

Do not install the bearing back wards!

The nut should be captured inside of the bearing.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 13A.jpg

Check the condition of the bushing inside of the pilot bearing.

Do not install the pilot bearing if the bushing is badly worn or cracked.

Using the chain hoist lift the pilot bearing using the (#5) shackle.

Lift the pilot bearing until it is aligned with the roller bearing.

Reach through the spokes of the pilot bearing and partially engage the roller bearing in to the bushing of the pilot bearing.

Once engaged raise the pilot bearing with the chain hoist until the OD of the pilot bearing lines up with the ID of the knife housing.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 14.jpg

Push the pilot bearing forward until it is firmly pressed against the holeplate.

Disconnect the chain hoist.

It is not necessary to remove the (#5) shackle.

It will not effect the operation of the grinder.

Always make sure the bolt of the shackle is securely tightened.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 15.jpg

Install the spacer ring.

Prior to installing the spacer ring always check the condition of the ring.

It must be free from burs and no sign of any damage.

The spacer should slide in to the knife housing with out being forced.

Once the spacer is installed confirm that the length of the spacer exceeds the end of the knife housing.

If the length is short do not continue with the assembly.

Call maintenance or your Supervisor.

Failure to correct the length will result in poor performance and may cause damage to the knife set.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 16.jpg

Mount the (#2) Screw cap lifting tool on to the Screw Cap.

Lift the screw cap by hooking the chain hoist to the lifting eye of (#2) Screw Cap lifting tool.

Raise the Screw Cap up until it is aligned with the knife housing.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 17.jpg

Install the Screw Cap.

Hand tighten the Screw Cap.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 18.jpg

Remove the (#2) Screw Cap lifting tool.

Tool_Auger_Hoist 20.jpg

Using (#1) Spanner Wrench tighten the Screw Cap to ensure the knife set is securely tightened.

Then completely loosen the screw cap and then hand tightened the Screw Cap once again.

Add 20-30 pounds of meat product into the grinder and jog the machine and stop the grinder once the meat starts to exit from the holeplate.

Now jog the grinder in reverse for 3-5 seconds, using the (#1) Spanner Wrench re-tighten the Screw Cap snugly but do not over tighten.

Re-check the tightness of the Screw Cap after 2-3 hours of operation.
